Welcome to S.O.A.P.

Before you get too excited and think this post will be about the super cool Scripture studying method of S.O.A.P. or that all of a sudden I’m in the soap making business, I have to start with a little story. Grab your coffee or tea and settle in for a spell.

When I started this blog I had no idea why I thought I could do this whole blogging thing or what on earth I’d write about, let alone who would want to invest their time reading. (stay with me here). I began simply writing about what I love most; Christ and His Word. As I got into writing more, I figured I should actually name the blog. I started out as Revolt. A play on Romans 12:2, encouraging others to break out of the ways of the world and focus on God’s ways.

Then I decided, Revolt was too aggressive and switched to #Transformed. Again, using Romans 12:2 as my focus. I started to gain some traction and really loved investing my time blogging. Then I had my daughter.

Love her to death, but a baby, hubby, and full-time ministry job take up a TON of time. My blogging became less and less as my family became more (which isn’t a bad thing). This season was followed by an absolute identity crisis here on #Transformed. Posts were not only a few and far between, but they were all over the place, until October 2017.

I decided #Transformed needed a focus and that focus needed to be back on Christ. Not that the other posts weren’t good topics, but everything was all over the place. I made a choice that from then on, everything would be God-centered. Whether it’s a devotion, prayer, encouragement on outreach, or whatever, it would be about Christ.

Man alive, I was PUMPED to get writing! 😃

But I didn’t. 😕

For a whole flippn’ year! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Ok, part of the reason is in November of 2017 we welcomed Wade into the family. Two kiddos, hubby, and a new full-time ministry job that kept me busier than the last one. Whew! Let me tell you this last year has been exhausting! Glorious, fulfilling, but outright exhausting.😴

I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to come by here and do some writing. The few times I actually tried, I had nothing worth typing. I didn’t want to waste your time with a lame post or some silly filler. I wanted to drop the mic with a post that left you singing, “Hallelujah!” 🙌🏼 “I’m getting my Jesus on!”. I wanted to pump you up! But I had zip to give.

Over the last month or so, my heart has been drawn back. Back to this blog. Back to writing. But I can’t get myself to focus on one thing.

Christ is my core, but if you and I actually sat down together, we could cover almost everything under the sun. Christ is integrated into everything I do and every way I spend my time. For instance, I freaking LOVE video games. Yep. I am a gamer girl. Legend of Zelda, Skyrim, Mario Kart, Knights of the Old Republic, Pokemon, and so on. I also love me an epic movie or TV series. Give me the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, every Star Wars movie, Indiana Jones, The Last Kingdom, I love them all! Oh, and documentaries! I am a nerd when it comes to watching a good documentary, especially history. Want to organize your house or your office supplies? I geek out over office supplies and I love y #bujo. Then there’s fashion. Nope just kidding. This girl is no fashionista, ask my sister. Oh! Can’t forget my love for Disney! I’ll leave that there because I could write pages on Disney. And marketing, technology, HTML, CSS, Apps,…I could go on and if you’re still reading, I love you! (By the way, the above describes an actual conversation I had today.)

The thing is, I’m tired of trying to force myself to focus on simply one topic. So I’m done.

My heart is as ADD as my brain, I’m going to embrace it, and I hope you will come along on this roller coaster.

So I officially welcome you to…

Sum Of All Parts

Because there is more to us than meets the eye and where this journey leads…God only knows.

In the coming days…weeks, the blog will go through a transformation as I play with color schemes and a logo things.

  1. I totally hear ya! As a blogger myself, I understand trying to hone in on only one passion, love, attribute actually denies the whole I was created to be! So my speech and language blog often highlights my profession, my, faith, my home, my garden, my family and more. They are all facets of what God created me to share. Good luck on your “transformation.”

  2. You always make me think deeper, laugh, and sometimes even get fired up. So, I can’t wait to hear what God puts on your heart.
