{#TechTuesday} First 5 App

I love what technology can do for getting deeper with my faith, increasing productivity, or just having fun.People come up to me everyday asking for a how-to with their phone or tablet. If you are hyper-connected like am, I hope you will enjoy #TechTuesdays where I will feature a short post sharing an App or other bit of technology.

First 5 App and the Experience Guide

I did a review of the App and the Experience Guide before he official launch and now that #First5 is in full swing, I thought it was time to revisit the App.

Boy howdy, it just keeps getting better and better!

A few new and noteworthy features:

1.  Reply. You can interact with everyone, by replying to their “My Moment.” Probably the best update so far!

2.  Snooze. Not quite ready to read? Tap the First5 image to snooze the App for eight minutes.

3. Landscape. You can now turn the App on it’s side and read the devotion or watch the Weekend Wrap-Up in landscape mode. *Note* Landscape via a phone App only seems to work for the Weekend Wrap-Up, not during the week.

4.  Lock screens. Be sure to visit the lock screen tab for beautiful backgrounds for your phone or tablet. They are changed out every once in a while.

5. Experience Guide. I was thrilled when they announced the EG for the different studies, but was a bit disappointed with the one provided for the book of John. Apart from the amazing intro, there wasn’t much else to help go deeper into the book of John. However, the EG they came out with for Genesis is wonderful and certainly adds depth to the daily First5 devotion. Be sure to order your copy of Matthew before the next study begins November 9th. (The Experience Guide costs $13 and helps Proverbs 31 Ministries keep the First5App free.)

How about you? Have you been using the #First5 App?

What is your favorite feature?

What features would you like to see added in the future?

Personaly, I’d love to have a night reading option. I read early in the morning before I get out of bed and the white light is quite bright. I’m always trying to keep the light out of everyone’s eyes while they sleep.

  1. I looooooove the First 5 app! I’m not tech savvy enough to add to your list 😉 But also the weekend wrap-ups. What a beautiful community to be a part of as we grow deeper in God’s love and Word! Thank you Heather! Xoxo

  2. I love the First 5 App and have been using since it first became available. I too like the night reading mode idea as well as stage landscape mode during the week. Although Genesis EG was better than John, I still wanted deeper. Although I know that purchasing the EG helps keep the app free I’m unsure if I’m going to purchase again. It’s beautifully done but like I said I wasn’t and expected deeper, and also for newbies I think there needs to be a bit more directions. But still this is the BEST APP by far for devotions and I think I’ve looked at them all. Everything P31 does is amazingly done and ultra professional.

  3. I would like to see the First 5 app for Window’s phone. I had an android and was enjoying the App on there, my husband and I and switched to Window’s phones and I was disappointed to see that this App is not available for Windows phones or my Amazon Kindle. I still have my android but its not my main phone so I forget to read it everyday. I would also like to be able to read them on my Kindle, because my eyes aren’t very good anymore, so reading on the small screen is a challenge for me. But other than that I love the App.

  4. I love this app so much. Every day I am so taken by the content. The app itself is not only stunningly beautiful but also very user friendly. I’m also amazed at HOW much it offers us. I didn’t know about the lock screen. You’re right! They are beautiful. I wonder if it would be worth it to highlight that feature, maybe on the WWU or something? Anyway, my endless gratitude to God and to each person who has been investing in this app. It’s been blessing me insanely.

    1. It can’t hurt to remind App users that the lock screen images are available :)! Especially since they are changed out (I don’t know how often they’re changed, I still have one from the first study).
